Apple unveils an On-line Awesome Ad today in The New York Times

Today Apple started running an Awesome Ad in the New York Times on-line edition. It features the Mac & PC characters and it plays a little video. Here are some screen captures of the adApple's 2009 New York Times May 18th On-line Ad

The current ad has earned the Awesome Ad award for it's clever interaction with three parts of the New York Times.

It has a Mac customer experience review on top.

The hair loss add artistically mirrors the PC & Mac guy. A great new take on the before and much hipper after switching to a Mac. Who knows, if you switch to a Mac you may even get your hair back! The end of the commercial shows the three areas in which Apple advertised in. The Upper Banner and off the the right have the Apple Logo and the right side has a photo of an iMac.

It no longer is available for viewing on the NYTimes site, but fortunately you can watch it on YouTube:

Apple has run other Ads in the New York Times before but none have been as well crafted as the current on. Here are some of the one's from the past. Here is one from the New York Times on 1/17/2008

Awesome Ads: GE on the new Smart Energy Grid

I recently came across a series of ads on the environmentally friendly Smart Energy Grid from GE.  You probably remember hearing or watching the "Scarecrow" ad-- a modern take on the classic song, "If I Only Had A Brain," from the film, The Wizard of Oz, imagining what can happen when old technologies have a brain.

My favorite from the series "Pluck" can be viewed below.

You can also go to the GE site directly and watch the videos (at least for now).  You can learn more about the campaign from the GE Smart Energy Grid website.  The two awesome videos in the series are "Pluck" & "Scarecrow"

We have known GE as the company for bringing good things to life. It may be known in the future for "GE, sustaining good things in life" Hey, maybe I should be an adman. I hope you enjoy the commercials as much as I did.

A Motivational Speech by Steve Jobs @ Stanford's Commencement in 2007

It has been about two years since I first saw this motivational speech from Steve Jobs. I decided to post it here since it is just as relevant and moving today especially in the times that we live in today.

As a followup to this video I wanted to share with you that Jobs has temporarily taken a leave of absence for health reasons and of my 2007 stock investments, Apple is the only one that shows a profit. Others can learn a lot from Steve Jobs and Apple, Inc. and after his health scare he more than likely prepared for someone else to take over the helm at Apple. This unfortunately was not the case with cosmetic industry pioneers Helena Rubenstein & Elizabeth Arden (see the PBS debuted documentary film The Powder & the Glory by Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman) who did not plan for a successor.

Car Fire on I-480 EB @ the Warrensville Rd. SB exit on May 13, 2009

I encountered a car fire when I was exiting off of I-480. The "toxic" fumes were terrible.

You get a chance to see the Warrensville Heights "B" unit put out the fire with the assistance of one of the Warrensville Heights Police Officers who untangles a hose for the firemen.

The video is cropped for this posting. If you want to see the full frame posting please click here
The video was captured with the Canon G9 Digital Elph Camera.

I had the G9 zoomed in all the way and it was resting on the guard rail telephone pole tree trunk material post that supports the guard rail.

I got lucky with the great placement of the support post. It made an awesome tripod-- or should I say monopod!

It probably took longer than you would think for the fireman to get the water on since the truck was a pumper truck and all the water came from the truck.  There was not a convenient fire hydrant near by.  I would imagine that it took some time to pressurize the water before it could inflate the fire-hose and come out with enough volume.

As far as I know everyone was all right.

Jennifer & Phil's Hudson wedding

This past week I photographed Jennifer & Phil's wedding in Hudson, Ohio. They were married at Saint Mary Catholic Church and then had their reception at the Hudson Country Club.

We stopped by the ACME Fresh Market in Hudson to take some photographs of where they first met. We all had lots of fun at the wedding and we had fantastic weather for the first Saturday in May.
